Part 2 Assignment 2

There is a big difference between women 40 years ago and women now. Women waiting to get married and having children therefore, establishing a family later in life. Also, most women today want to are focusing more on their careers rather than just have a job. Because women want to have careers, they will spend much of their time in school getting their degrees. Furthermore, more and more women are living their life like the women in Sex and The City, buying clothes of the latest fashion, as well as very expensive make-up and shoes. Women also are traveling much more and spending their paychecks on pleasure rather than on kids.
As I mentioned before, many more women are delaying marriage and having kids. They are focusing on their independence as well as having fun. Many of the women's first priority today is to get an education and a degree. They don't want to be dependent on any man. It is normal to find women in their late 20s not being marriage or having a child. Many more women are now traveling to all different parts of the world and have developed new ways how to live a happy life being single. With this being said, there are more women who are delaying to get married. They are enjoying a New Era of women urbanization and Independence. As mentioned before, today, many more women are working more because they want to be independent. They are enjoying the fact that they don't need to sit around and wait for their husbands to come from work and be their servant. Of course in the past, many women would not have jobs and will be married off at an early age to serve the men and reproduce. But, the New Girl Order and has changed all the for women nationwide.
As for what I want to do, I definitely want to work and get my career started and then marry. I want to enjoy what is out there and have the opportunity to travel and enjoy my life without having to work about having a husband and kids at home. I want to make sure that my hard work and dedication throughout school has definitly paid off for me to live the sweet life.

Part 1 Assignment 2

1) A highlight that really struck me from the report was the one that talked about how more than half of American families will not have children under the age of 18 living at home. This shocked me because I thought many Americans still have children under that age of 18 living with them. Also, many of the Baby Boomers are still in their 40's which mean that they most likely have children under the age of 18.

2) The only thing that surprised me of the chart was the father with children percentage how it remained the same from 1995 to 2010. I would have thought that by 2010, the percentage might have increased because more fathers are accepting their responsibilities and if it comes to a divorce or separation, more fathers would want their children to stay with them.

3) What I noticed from the chart was how the percentage for households with children was greater in 1995 than in 2010 and in the households with no children it was the complete opposite.

3a.) The types of families that are more typical compared to 1995 was families with children.

3b.) The types of families that are becoming less the norm are households with no children.

4) I think that in 5 years, the charts are going to be pretty much the same on what types of families will be living. In 10 years, I think there will be more single-parent households rather than married because more and more couples are getting a divorce. By the time I am 70 years old, I think people are just going to be living on their own and not depend on anybody else for income. I think more people will be satisfied with being single.
